How should I take care of my skin?
Acne is a skin disorder which many people will find they can suffer from at almost any stage of their lives. If you find yourself with acne breakouts on your face, back, neck or any other area of your skin then don't worry. Acne treatment is now very advanced and there is much that you can do to help treat the problem and clear up your skin.
One common misconception is that acne is caused by dirty skin. This is not true, acne is caused by a number of things, however, this is not to say that it is not important to keep your skin clean. You need to wash your face with a gentle cleanser, too much washing is likely to irritate whiteheads, blackheads and pimples and lead to more severe acne. It is advisable to use a mild cleanser such as the Exposed Skin Care Facial Cleanser to gently clean your skin and pores of any dirt.
Pores which become clogged with dead skin cells and sebum oil allow bacteria to flourish which leads to acne. Because of this it is necessary to exfoliate and remove the dead layer of skin cells. Regular exfoliation will help prevent any new acne developing. Use an exfoliator such as the Exposed Skin Care Clearing Tonic which contains Salicylic Acid . Salicylic acid will penetrate your pours and remove any dead skin cells helping to prevent them becoming clogged.
In order to achieve acne free clear skin, you also need to combat the acne causing bacteria which reside in your pores. Acne treatments which contain Benzoyl Peroxide are excellent at this, the benzoyl peroxide will oxygenate your pores and prevent the bacteria from flourishing. The Exposed Skin Care Acne Treatment Serum contains a 2.5% benzoyl peroxide solution which is strong enough to battle acne without leading to dry skin.
Furthermore, in order to avoid clogging of the pores, you should avoid using cosmetics, lotions, cream or gel which contains oil. Look for products which are labelled 'non-comedogenic', this means that they won't clog the pores and lead to acne breakouts.
Some people will find that acne treatment makes their skin slightly dry. To combat this use a moisturizer such as the Exposed Skin Care Moisture Complex which is oil free and will moisturize your skin without resulting in blocked pores.
If after following a careful acne treatment routine for 6 - 10 weeks you do not see any improvement then it may be necessary to see your doctor who can refer you to a dermatologist. There are prescription medicines available which can combat the most severe forms of acne.
